Why 'Sprinkles etc.' & 'The Cake Couturier'?

After a few cake orders from collegues & friends, I began toying with the idea of importing edible cake decorating supplies for the at-home decorator. Name something that you used to decorate the first cake you ever made? I'm hoping that most of you answered 'sprinkles'! I wanted to start a business which sold sprinkles and sh#t, but I had an inkling that profanity in my business name would not gel so well with the general public, thus Sprinkles etc. was born.

Unfortunately, full time work and cake orders on the side have kept me so busy that I've not been able to bring this pipe dream to fruition. I recently decided to keep 'Sprinkles etc.' as my parent company and recently added 'The Cake Couturier' to capture a different clientele. Honestly, I'm not sure how many discerning brides would divulge that their cake was made by Sprinkles and Sh#t, I mean ETC.!!!

My first decorated cake

Despite my mother's best efforts to pass on her skills, I've always been more adept at baking cakes than cooking traditional Chinese Malaysian meals. After I took some red velvet cupcakes into work back in June 2011, one of my collegues approached me to make her daughter's 21st cake. Gosh...I've only been decorating for just over a year?! How have I managed to amass so much cake equipment in such a short period of time?

Back to the subject at hand, this was my first decorated cake...and the first time I'd ever used fondant, the first time I'd made chocolate shards, and the first time I used this acrylic cupcake stand (which was worth more than the cake!)
